Environmental Health Aide
City of Bloomington

Position: Full-time

Description: Conduct inspections, investigations, education and compliance work based on environmental health regulations for the protection of public health, welfare & safety. Primary responsibilities include residential code compliance in the areas of nuisance & property maintenance.

Salary: $3,851 per month; $4,263 per month after 6 months

Minimum Qualifications: 2 years of college with a minimum of 6 semester hours of course work in the physical, biological or environmental sciences, or 2 years full-time employment in the field of Environmental Health; computer skills and knowledge of various software applications; valid driver's license; ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public.

Desirable Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Biological or Physical Sciences, Public Health or a closely related field; Minnesota Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Sanitarian, or eligible to be registered within 1 year; Work experience in code compliance; Environmental work experience in a governmental agency.

Research Coordinator

Position: Annual renewable contract

Description: Coordinate and supervise data collection for the Minnesota Taconite Respiratory Health Study being conducted in Northern Minnesota to assess the present health of current and former taconite workers and their spouses. Recruit, train, and supervise clinic and field staff and work closely with the study clinic in Northern Minnesota; collaborate with study team on development of study protocols, survey instruments, training materials, data management, storage and shipment of data & samples, security; oversee implementation of study protocols; monitor adherence to protocol and compliance with HIPAA & data privacy regulations for human subject research; conduct quality control reviews; monitor and report on progress; manage IRB documentation; facilitate communication and interactions with various stakeholder groups. Position requires travel to northern Minnesota for periods of several days approximately 4 times per year.

Salary: DOQ

Minimum Qualifications: MPH in epidemiology or environmental health and/or 5 years of related experience; epidemiological data collection experience; demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists, data management, and statisticians; strong written and oral communication skills, excellent administrative abilities, and independent organizational abilities.
