Description: Lead person within a specific program area; Inspects licensed facilities such as hazardous waste, food, beverage, lodging, public pools, body art and solid waste; performs investigations of such unlicensed activities as hazardous waste spills and dumping, water supply and sewage disposal systems, housing, animals, rodents, etc.; Performs plan reviews for new or reconstructed facilities; Performs construction inspections of new construction or reconstruction; Obtains evidence of environmental code violations; Collects, identifies and preserves biological, physical and/or chemical samples and/or data for use in enforcement actions; Works as a part of the department's Emergency Prepardness Team.
Salary: $46,085 - $56,532
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major/minor in Physical and/or Biological Sciences, Environmental Health or closely related field to environmental health (no substitutions for education); 1 year of full-time paid experience as an EHS or equivalent with a regulatory agency (experience substitutions may be considered by the Department). In addition, a special technical competency in one of the following: Certified Hazardous Waste Site Worker, Standardized Food Inspection Officer, Qualified ISTS Professional - Designer 1, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, Licensed Solid Waste Inspector, Certified Pool Operator; Registration by the State of Minnesota as an EHS is required.
Desirable Qualifications: Background in chemistry, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste management, biology, microbiology and/or food services preferred.
